I set up Windows 7 Homegroup on my PC and was able to see this from my laptop.
However I was unable to see my PC from my laptop.
SOLVED
After some reading decided to remove my almost redundant McAffee from my laptop. As soon as I did this Homegroup started working. As did remote connections to SQL Server.
New Problem 12th July 2012
Not able to see PC HomeGroup folders on laptop. Solution was to set up a Library on PC and then Share with for this library – rather than direct on folder

ERROR Yikes.
When playing with BIOS settings to try and use Graphics card + OnBoard (see previous post), I was curious to see if OnBoard would work on it’s own. So change one option to IDE, with no graphics card. At this point I had no monitor, possibly only on boot. I may have at some point used some form of Restore Default Settings. From this point forth it would not boot, but would just display “Missing Operating System”.
SOLVED: With more technical support we realised that the SATA configuration settings were something other than RAID, which this machine is on. After reverting this back to RAID the machine booted again.

The following is instructions received from a technical support, regarding my new PC
I can advise of the following settings that need to be set for 3 monitor support on your system.
You need to enter the BIOS by pressing either DEL or F2 during the POST.
(1) In the Chipset section, then Northbridge, the Initiate Graphic Adaptor setting needs to be set to PEG/IGD
(2) In the Chipset section, then Northbridge, the IDG Memory setting needs to be set to at least 64MB.
(3) In the Chipset Section, then Northbridge, the IDG Multi-monitor setting needs to be set to Enabled.
(4) In the Advanced Section. Then Intel IDG SWCSI OpRegion. The DMVT/Fixed Memory needs to be set to at least 256MB.
You will then need to press either F4 or F10 to save and exit.

My NVidia Control Panel was set for dual monitors. However one was detached, so it seemed to have switched it to Main monitor name + TV.
Changed back to single monitor and both of the above problems disappeared
Other sites have different answers for the Windows XP icons all hi-lighted. This was not the issue in my case.

While I have accessed email from Outlook on my PC for years, I recently discovered that I could access my email from the web and this left a copy of the message on the server, so when I next used Outlook the message would be shown there as well. However as soon as it is received in Outlook it is no longer visible on the server.
My friend indicated that there was a method of leaving messages on the server. This is here:

After setting up new PC was initially having problems with the graphics card. (Novatech) AMD Radeon 6770.
Key: Catalyst Control Center = CCC
Did uninstall the driver and CCC at one point and re-install everything, from Downloads\Graphics folder. Seemed to work well for half an hour – now seems a little less than perfect. Will see. So turned off PC rest then turn back on and graphics good again. However with HDMI to Iiyama I now have a buzz. Have used the monitor setting to mute the sound and it has gone away. May need to use DVI on Iiyama as well.
The configurations which temporarily worked are:
Update 1-Sep-2011
Still having problems. So after talking with Technical Support at Novatech I have took the graphics card out – and put back in – reseat in the computer. This seems to have increased the proportion of time that the machine is OK. Still not 100% though
